On May 16th, we held our third and last regional event of the 2019 Fundica Roadshow at Blakes Law Firm in Toronto. Sixteen startups, presenting an array of services, including, but not limited to, estate planning, a cryptocurrency trading platform, and VR public speaking practice, pitched to our largest panel of investors yet, each hoping for an opportunity to move onto the finale and compete for the $1,000,000 equity investment award, powered by Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList syndicate leads. After much deliberation, ChargeLab, CoHealth, Tryon, and JobAdx were awarded the coveted city winner trophies.

"The quality of the pitching entrepreneurs as well as the support of funders in Toronto was amazing. It is getting hard to pick winners with such a great lineup; this stop, we had to select four,” said Mike Lee, president of Fundica. “Looking forward to see the final showdown of the best startups in Canada at the Fundica Roadshow Finale on June 20, 2019 in Montreal.”

ChargeLab, represented at the Fundica Roadshow by Zachary Lefevre, makes point-of-sale software for electric vehicle charging stations, providing smart grid capabilities to buildings, cities, and electric grids; CoHealth, represented by Zack Fisch Rothbart, is a mobile platform that makes it easy for health-related organizations to share resources with patients and caregivers and generate meaningful data/insights; Tryon, represented by Nataliia and Andrii Tsok, allows customers to try on rings, bracelets, and watches anytime and anywhere with their smartphones; and JobAdx, represented by Amit Chauhan, is a candidate attraction and engagement platform, bringing the best of consumer ad tech to recruitment advertising.

“We applied to [the Fundica Roadshow] because we’re a Canadian startup,” said Zachary Lefevre, who also pitched at the 2018 Fundica Roadshow in Toronto. “There are a limited number of opportunities to pitch to Canadian investors—to investors period—so it was a no-brainer for us to get in front of the investors here in Toronto.”

At the finale, our ten city winners from Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto will collide, pitching against each other for a chance to receive the $1,000,000 equity investment award, powered by Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList syndicate leads. In addition to a chance to receive the grand prize, our finalists will receive $20,000 in Google Cloud hosting credits and a cloud package from CANARIE.
