Fundica Announces the Winners of the 2019 Fundica Roadshow
Fundica, the leading funding identification and connection platform for Canadian businesses, and its investment partners, Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList, are happy to announce the winners of the 2019 Fundica Roadshow equity investment award of up to $1,000,000.
At the Fundica Roadshow finale, which was held at the Rialto Theatre in Montreal on June 20th, eleven startups—finalists picked from across Canada—pitched to a panel of investors, who ranked them based on their market potential, solution, team, pitch, and investment readiness.
Following keynotes from Xavier Peich of SmartHalo, Joost Ouwerkerk of Hopper, Warren Levitan of Smooch, Marie Eve Prevost of MissFresh, and Emilie Boutros of TandemLaunch, the Fundica Roadshow trophy was awarded to ehsAI (Margery Moore), Silofit (Wilfred Valenta), and Neuraura (Pierre Wijdenes). Moving forward, these companies will continue conversations with Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList.
“We were amazed by the quality of the startups, speakers, investors, and other contributors to the 2019 Fundica Roadshow, and we would like to congratulate the winners,” said Fundica’s President, Mike Lee. “At this time, we are also excited to be working with our ecosystem partners on new approaches to shortening the distance between entrepreneurs and relevant funding.”
EhsAI converts complex EHS legal documents into compliance action items in seconds by leveraging machine learning.
Neuraura will help put an end to brain diseases by leveraging decades of research and applying leading practices in neuroscience and microfabrication to better understand the electrophysiological workings of the brain.
Silofit is a real-estate-as-a-service platform that focuses on leasing and converting small offices into micro-gyms that can be rented by the hour using their app.
“I would like to thank everyone at Fundica for putting on such a great event. Coordinating a cross-Canada event like the Fundica Roadshow isn’t easy and they’ve done a terrific job,” said Margery Moore, CEO and co-founder of ehsAI. “We’d also like to thank the judges for their time. We know their time is valuable and their participation is greatly appreciated”.
"I was very impressed by the quality and diversity of the startups this year," said David Dufresne, partner at Panache Ventures. “No one manages to unite the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem quite like the Fundica Roadshow.”
“By providing a point of connection for startups and the investors interested in funding them, the Fundica Roadshow facilitates the kind of risk-taking that is crucial to the success of venture capitalists and early stage startups alike,” said Sergio A. Escobar, CEO of BCF Ventures. “We are very proud to have continued our partnership with them for this seventh season.”
"The Fundica Roadshow gives us a good sense of what trends are forming in our community and allows us to pinpoint leads that we might not have been able to locate on our own," said Alex Norman, partner at AngelList.
Fundica, Canada's leading traditional funding identification and connection platform, matches entrepreneurs, private investors, public funders and advisors.
